It has been announced today that West Ham defender, and brother of Rio, Anton Ferdninand, has been charged with ABH and violent disorder.

The 21 year old is alleged to have been involved in an incident in East London on October 2nd. He will go to court this Friday.

However, Anton insists that he is innocent. He says his actions are justified considering the situation he was put in.

Ferdinand's representation have said, "We confirm that Anton Ferdinand, the West Ham and England under-21 international, has been charged with assault. Anton looks forward to having the opportunity to explain in court the incident and nature of his actions on the night in question, October 2 2006. He maintains his innocence and believes his actions were justified and that because of this he believes he has not done anything wrong."
