Wenger Keeps Henry Out Until 2007

By at 3 December, 2006, 12:17 pm

Following rumours of a training ground bust up between Arsenal’s best player and captain, with manager Wenger, it has been announced today that the player won’t return to first team action until after the new year. It has been said that Wenger told Henry that he would not be playing in the London derby against Spurs, which caused him to storm out of training.

Wenger said “this is not a one-man team” which was confirmed by Arsenal’s convincing 3-0 win over Tottenham, despite controversy surrounding all three goals. The manager also indicated his decission wasn’t based on Henry’s fitness alone, saying, “it is very difficult to speak about that (Henry’s return date) because first I want to sit down with him and tell him what I expect from him and where we go when he has recovered.”

The talks between player and manager are expected to happen soon, with Wenger telling his captain he won’t feature in the lineup until the new year. Wenger has also confirmed he won’t be purchasing anyone in January, which was expected after tightened purse strings following the Emirates Stadium development.

Can Arsenal cope without their inspirational player until the new year? Or due to his fatigue, are they better off without him until then?

Sounds suspicious to me. Wondering if Henry will be dumped in January. I doesn’t seem like it’s his injuries that
are keeping him out.

What a load of old cobblers - this is more bollocks than what the Daily Scum dishes out. I’ve heard it all now. Where do they get this rubbish from?

I hate to say I told you so, but…

From Sky Sports:

Thierry Henry has revealed that he will be sidelined until the New Year with his ongoing neck problem.

The French star has a sciatic nerve problem, which he admits he has been carrying for around three months.

The Arsenal captain admits he will need to take around six weeks out of the game, but that may be not enough to cure the problem totally.

“I am going to have to once again stop playing, as I did after the [France] match in Dublin last season, when I picked up an Achilles tendon injury, but maybe for even longer this time,” Henry told l’Equipe.

“I’ve been suffering for two or three months now, and the pain is amplified by the sciatic nerve.

“I need to say ’stop’ for a month, or even a month and a-half. A lot of time is needed for the pain to go.

“After some 60 matches in 2006, the body says ’stop’. And you need to listen to it.”

As I just showed, Henry confirmed today that he will not be playing until the New Year. So as much as your comments about it being “crap”, “attention seeking”, “rubbish” etc. are noted, I’m pleased the man himself put you in your place and confirmed that my article is in fact entirely true. Man, it hurts being right all the time ;)

Just search Google for Henry and Sciatic.

Attention seeking ? Absolutely not… See these news items mentioned by Google.

Sciatic nerve pains take time to heal, and it makes you feel like semi-handicapped.

That’s enough to frustrate any champion.

Whatever happens, I hope Thierry will remember that he had a blessed career without much injury.

Keep your head up Thierry !
