Manchester United FC wants Dimitar Berbatov

Manchester United FC have said today that they are confident that they will sign the Bulgarian striker Dimitar Berbatov. The current Premier League champions have expressed a strong interest in the twenty seven year old attacker before, but have been forced to increase their bid after Spanish side FC Barcelona have placed a bid for the player.

Suggestions are that Manchester United’s bid was some where in the region of twenty two million to twenty five million pounds, and Sir Alex Ferguson says that he is confident that the Tottenham Hotspur striker will sign for them based on that bid. But now Manchester United have competition in signing the striker from FC Barcelona after both their top attacking players Samuel Eto’o and Ronaldinho have left the club, and the deal with Arsenal’s Emmanuel Adebayor seems to have fallen through. The bid made by the Spanish side is reported to be two million pounds higher than Manchester United’s, though.

After playing for German side Bayern Leverkusen, Dimitar Berbatov came to England in 2006 after signing for Tottenham Hotspur in a deal worth just under eleven million pounds, and has since played in over one hundred games for the club, scoring forty six goals for the London side, netting twenty three goals in each of the two seasons he has been playing at the club, and also helping them to win the Football League Cup last season. He has constantly shown that he is a born goal scorer, playing football comparable to Ruud Van Nistelrooy and Thierry Henry, and is always ready to apply the finishing touch to a phase of play. The striker’s future is still unresolved though, however it looks likely that he will be moving away from White Hart Lane in the current transfer window.
