Former Manchester United and West Ham goalkeeper, Roy Carroll, has been suspended from his current club for two weeks.
Following last Saturday’s defeat to Crystal Palace, tempers flared in the Derby dressing room, which resulted in altercation between Carroll and his manager, Paul Jewell.
The goalkeeper has now been suspended for two weeks, although the chairman is quick to stress that Carroll will be returning to play for Derby.
“There was an incident involving two parties in the dressing room after the game,” said the chairman, Adam Pearson. “Paul has spoken to me about it and after consultation we have decided to suspend Roy for a couple of weeks. I want to stress that his career at the club is certainly not over. It is simply a cooling-off period. Football is a fickle business and things are said in the heat of the moment in the dressing-room. Feelings are obviously running high after a defeat. But Paul is Derby County’s manager and with that role goes the responsibility for the dressing-room.”
