Arsenal FC loses Gilberto to Panathinaikos

Gilberto has today left Arsenal FC and is moving to Greek side Panathinaikos. The fee for the Brazilian midfielder is believed to be around just one million pounds, which is a bargain considering his large amounts of ability. The new three year contract with the Greek club ensures that he is the highest paid player in Greek

football.

The thirty one year old has been with the London club for six years after joining Arsenal FC in 2002 from Brazilian side Atletico Mineiro. Arsenal paid around four and a half million pounds, but the excellent performances by the player warrant the loss Arsenal have made. Gilberto is best known for his power and strength in midfield, but also combines that with brilliant skill and agility, as well as a keen eye for short passes, which often leave the opposition tired and confused.
