No Chelsea Deal For Lampard

By at 29 June, 2007, 8:27 am

Frank Lampard has been in discussions with Chelsea for some time, and no agreement has been reached. Whilst the player claims to love the club and wants a future there, it appears Chelsea are not offering him enough money.

“My mind at the moment is going back pre-season with Chelsea of course,” he said.

“I said after the FA Cup final that I wanted to stay but nothing has moved on from there and that is probably what leaves me in the situation I am in.

“I have two years left on my contract at Chelsea, that’s the way it is. They have no necessity to come and offer me anything so I just carry on and get on with it as you have to as a player.”

“In an ideal world I would have done it (signed a new deal) three weeks ago. But it is not an ideal world is it?”

It has been reported today that Bolton are lining up a move for Reading striker Leroy Lita. New boss, Sammy Lee, is planning for a future without Anelka, who has openly stated he would like to play for a bigger club.

Lita, who has had a string of impressive displays for the England Under-21s, has already opened contract talks with Reading, but Bolton plan to lure him away.

£15 million + Cisse + Garcia = Torres

By at 27 June, 2007, 3:48 am

With the weeks passing by, and Liverpool still inactive in the transfer market, speculation over a Torres bid is beginning to mount.

The hot prospect at Athletic Madrid has been linked with most top European clubs over the past month, but it appears as though Liverpool will be the ones who get his signature.

However, the £27 million asking fee is too much for the new American owners, so it appears an exchange deal will take place. Unhappy striker Cisse, who has battled injury and been on loan this season, and Luis Garcia are expected to be the players up for grabs. On top of this, a £15 million transfer fee is required.

Will this be enough to lure Torres away from Athletico?

Fabregas’ £15 Million Exit

By at 26 June, 2007, 7:47 am

After the departure of Patrick Vieira and Thierry Henry over recent seasons, it appears the future of Arsenal is starting to rest on the young shoulders of Cesc Fabregas.

Earlier in the month, the former Barcelona youth teamer suggested that his future at the club was dependent on Wenger, and with the manager’s future looking more and more uncertain, it appears Fabregas could be on the way out too.

Back in April, Fabregas said, “One of the reasons why I am at Arsenal is Wenger.”

“He (Wenger) has said that is going to fulfil his contract and I trust his word.

“I would like to return to Spanish football, but before I must finish my time in England.”

If Wenger fails to commit past the one year he currently has remaining on his deal, Fabregas might opt to return to Spain sooner than thought. Interest has been shown from both Real Madrid and Barcelona, and a figure of £15 million has been quoted by some sources today.

Wenger’s Future Dependent On Dein

By at 26 June, 2007, 7:39 am

With Thierry Henry finally being revealed at Barcelona yesterday, after making a move for just £16 million, reports suggest Wenger will soon follow him out of the door.

Arsene Wenger currently has one year remaining on his current deal, and has said at the moment, he will not commit himself for longer than that.

Reports today suggest that Wenger will be willing to sign a contract extension if David Dein is reinstated at the club. Henry cites Dein’s departure as a reason why he left, and Arsenal could find getting rid of him was a more costly decission than first thought.

Liverpool’s £45 Million Striker Shopping Spree

By at 21 June, 2007, 5:56 am

It has been reported today that finally the deals for Torres and Forlan will go through. Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has long been an admirer of La Liga, and is keen to wrap up the deals for the two strikers as soon as possible.

New owners George Gillett and Tom Hicks are keen to show their commitment to the club, and feel strengthening a weak error in the Liverpool’s lineup is a way to win over the fans.

Torres’ transfer fee is set somewhere between £24 and £27 million, and a deal for Forlan would hit around the £15 million mark.

Both Athletico Madrid and Villarreal are desperate to cling on to their strikers, however the tabloids today suggest that Benitez will get the deals he wants.

Spurs Steal Liverpool Deal

By at 20 June, 2007, 4:27 am

Rafa Benitez has searched far and wide to find a striker who can help Liverpool once again compete for the league, and it was reported he had settled his attention on Charlton’s Darren Bent.

However, today it appears that Spurs will be the team to sign the striker for an expected £12-£14 million.

Charlton had been keen to cash in on Bent when West Ham offered a massive £18 million. However Bent turned down the deal, and it is likely the player will now leave for a more reasonable price.
